Case Study
District Farms
District Farms in Frederick, Maryland started with a big goal in mind.
District Farms had a bold mission: to produce the healthiest, cleanest, and most visually stunning greens on the East Coast—all while slashing environmental impact and shortening the farm-to-table journey. With most leafy greens grown on the West Coast, building a greenhouse operation closer to population hubs like Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Philadelphia made strong business and sustainability sense.
The Challenge
Despite having the right vision and location, District Farms faced a familiar obstacle in agricultural operations: limited access to power. Their existing 1000W High Pressure Sodium (HPS) fixtures weren’t efficient enough to maximize plant output within their power constraints. To truly scale their operation and meet demand, they needed more light—but without increasing energy consumption.

The
Solution
District Farms partnered with JumpLights to upgrade their lighting system to the Prism ETS 650W LED grow lights—ultra-efficient fixtures designed to deliver more light per watt. This switch not only meant better yields in the same power envelope, but also a higher quality product overall.
JumpLights didn’t just stop at the sale. Their team worked closely with District Farms to secure USDA REAP grant funding to offset costs. Through JumpLights’ comprehensive support, including installation and optimization, the new LED system was up and running fast—positioning the farm for rapid growth.

Prism ETS — Greenhouse
Our Prism™ ETS Greenhouse Grow light is the perfect lighting solution for your Greenhouse Grow Facility. Our patented ETS (Efficient Thermal Stack) technology provides a lightweight, bright, long-lasting fixture that allows you to customize a power level and fall pattern that will suit your unique needs.
The Results
In just four months, the impact of the LED upgrade was undeniable.
“We installed these lights four months ago,” said Jessie Titus, Greenhouse Operator at District Farms. “Since then we’ve been able to put Romaine under the lights which has opened doors for us to get into other major retailers.”
Production surged. “We are turning 800 to 1200 cases of cut Romaine per week, which is crazy,” said Titus. “And definitely wouldn’t be possible without these lights since they’ve been able to allow us to turn the product a lot faster.”
The visual difference in crop quality was also striking. Lettuce grown under JumpLights’ fixtures was noticeably healthier, fuller, and more vibrant than crops grown under previous lighting—proof that better technology leads to better produce.
With the help of JumpLights, the District Farms’ lettuce plants and profits will continue to grow.
